An Epidemic of Isolation and Loneliness

Updated: Dec 21, 2021

If nothing else, the global pandemic, shutdowns, sheltering in place, and quarantines have made us aware how strong or fragile our social networks are, especially for people over 60. My clients in that age range report feeling a level of isolation and loneliness that they have never before experienced and for which they were not prepared.

People are living healthier and longer these days, and an entire generation of people are finding themselves over 60, single, and ready to socialize. While some people in this group have family and friends who engage them regularly, many people over 60 are finding it quite challenging to maintain meaningful relationships. Because of death, divorce, age-related limitations, relocation, work demands, and shifting lifestyles, the over-60 crowd is finding fewer opportunities to socialize and slowly lose touch with friends. And before they know it, they are isolated and lonely.

Do you sometimes feel like everyone is enjoying life except you? Are you over 60 and feeling isolated and lonely? Would you like a good listener and a fresh, unbiased perspective? If so, let's talk it out.
